Chronicles

There are people, for whom Rawa Blues works just like an energy drink and fulfill their concert needs. Some of them, repeat every year: too much emotions for one day. Both thesis were confirmed that year.

In the Centre of Film Culture there was an official Polish premiere of the movie by Alan Lomax The Land Where the Blues Began. At The Poetry Cafe in „Spodek”, Jerzy Dębina  and    Łukasza Kobiela presented the monodram based on Allen Ginsberg's lyrics.

The winners of The Off Stage became the band Puste Biuro with Karolina Kidoń as the vocalist.

The Main Stage perfomances opened Boogie Chilli show,  later appeared another Polish artists: Limbo, Big Fat Mama and Wojtek Klich. Sławek Wierzcholski performed as the leader of Nocna Zmiana Bluesa, this time with the brass section. The great admiration of spectators caused the acoustic set of Irek Dudek,  especially when he played Tadeusz Nalepa track „Ten o Tobie film”.

As the first foreign artist appeared British group Storm Warning. Then Janiva Magness started her first ever show in Poland, she arrived here as the winner of Blues Music Award. She showed her vocal skills, liveliness, great interaction with the audience and also... sex appeal.

Those who thought, that the last band would have a difficult task in focusing the specators on their concert were extremely wrong. Asylum Street Spankers just brought the house down. The colorful rag – tag band with mandolin, double bass, banjo and drum lumbers started their gig as the conquerors of the Wild West. They played the amazing, energetic blues, country and rockabilly mixture giving spectators a lot of great fun and proving that there is only good or bad music.

Only few people could taste their fantasy and ideas during the night jam session at the club in Novotel hotel, where the American musicians – together with mates from Polish band Teenage Beat did their best one more time...
