Shakin' Dudi
Shakin' Dudi, the alias of Ireneusz Dudek, formed the legendary Polish band that will celebrate its 40th anniversary at the 42nd edition of the Rawa Blues Festival. The concert will also mark the release of the band's newest album, which features new tracks alongside the group's greatest hits.
Irek Dudek, a bluesman in his thirties, and Darek Dusza, leader of the punk rock band Śmierć Kliniczna, were joined by jazz musicians. Could such a lineup work out? An album recorded practically "live" in one go... The result? A "Gold Record" – 36 minutes that shook the Polish music scene in the mid-1980s. The Gold Record turned out to be a treasure trove of hits like "Au sza la la," "Zastanów się co robisz," "To ty słodka," "Za dziesięć minut trzynasta," and, of course, "Och Ziuta."
These songs were sung throughout the country at the time. Shakin' Dudi packed the largest concert halls in Poland, and the album, with its ironic yet provocative title, went platinum. It was successfully followed up in 2008. Importantly, the songs from the "Gold Record" haven't aged a bit, musically or lyrically. Even "Za dziesięć minut trzynasta," after a slight update to the time in the title, has become relevant again after several cities started imposing night-time prohibitions.
